用核心种质掖478和铁7922组配成基础材料F2代与早熟种质6314为原始材料，连续自交多代，育成中熟、高配合力、抗病性强和综合农艺性状好的玉米自交系D22。用其组配的杂交种早熟、抗逆性强、适应性广，成为我国玉米育种中重要的中熟种质资源之一。
