We are currently seeking a full-time
Acquisitions Editor (m/f) Science & Technology
based in our Beijing office and reporting directly to the Senior Editorial Director Science & Technology in Berlin, to start as soon as possible.
The Acquisitions Editor will have the following duties:
Strategic development of the international program in coordination with the Senior Editorial Director of the reporting line
Sound development of our publishing portfolio (books, journals, major reference works,databases) in coordination with the Senior Editorial Director of the reporting line
Management and expansion of networks with scientists, institutions and societies
Budget responsibility regarding publication schedule and other relevant economic targets
Research and competitive analysis
Representation of the department at conferences
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:
University degree in the physical sciences
Experience in developing book and journal programs or similar practical qualifications at a publishing house or a research institute
Professional ties to the Science & Technology community and institutions which provides a wide network of potential authors
Very good time management, a reliable ability to prioritize tasks and efficiency in implementing the goals for which you are responsible
A distinct knowledge of project management and experience in creating and implementing budgets
Excellent communication skills
Fluent in spoken and written English, knowledge of German would be a plus
Ability and desire to travel extensively
